What is hilarious here is that some of the people complaining on here are most likely the same people that came to the Juggling Gypsy, checked out the space multiple times, and then went and opened their very own hookah bar. The Juggling Gypsy was Wilmington's first. Yes, it is American owned. What is wrong with that? If you think America is so trashy....why are you here? Doesn't that make you trashy too? Your here! I will say that The Juggling Gypsy is owned by a person that is very passionate and creative and always striving to make his place better. I for one love the place. If you are the negative and judgemental type...you can find something wrong w/ anyone and any place you go. The Juggling Gypsy is and always will be Wilmington's premier hookah bar.

the juggling gypsy is a chill place and a great hookah bar. as long as you respect the place (like tipping your bartenders, not trashing the place and not bringing in outside booze and stuff like that), then you'll get a great experience there.

they got over 100 beers there and so many shisha flavors, including herbal and sugarcane shisha (tobacco free).

best hookah bar in wilmington, by far.

Hello!
This is Bash, the owner of the Juggling Gypsy. Thank you for your comments... We are striving to create a higher satisfaction for our customers over the next few months by upgrading our hookahs, and bringing in & creating some new quality flavors for you.

If you have any suggestions you feel that would improve our customers' experience at Juggling Gypsy, we welcome your emails!

As always, there is no charge for extra hoses. And there is no longer a coal charge. (We had originally created that method because of limited space. With our outside seating areas, we no longer have that problem.)

We thank our loyal customers for their support, and welcome new friends.

To quote angel "i am scared to go to Juggling Gypsy because it sounds trashy and "americanized". "

You should be scared. There are much more authentic places in Wilmington.

The Gypsy has its niche market, and if the sub/counter culture is what you are all about than have a great time. But, if a great hookah experience is what you want, try a couple of the other places in town. they run the gamut, from food/alcohol/hookah, to just hookah w/beverages and snacks. Some have belly dancing, some don't. Some are more westernized than others, so try a few, and see what you like the best.

i have been in egypt and india recently smoking shisha.....coal is free, they know to come every so often and check it, and it is what they do there.

This has to be my favorite hookah place in Wilmington. The hookahs are reasonably priced with a wide variety of flavors and blends. The staff was even quite happy to blend any number of flavors for me (I got 4 once). There's also an impressive beer selection, which being a beer connoisseur, was nice. They also have some wines, but that's not my thing.

About the staff, sometimes when I go there, there will only be one person working. If they get too busy it can take longer than expected, but I've never had to wait too long. And yes - you do have to order at the bar. The food's alright, but not the best.

Awesome vibe though, I've seen some great shows there, especially the belly dance show back in March. It's also a great place to relax during the day (they have a hookah special everyday before 7pm).

All the haters need to chill out. The Juggling Gypsy is a rad place. They are doing something different and much needed in the Wilmington area. They've created an awesome space for people to do awesome stuff, not many can say they have built a community like that. Noise music, burlesque, subversive films, fire, jazz, whatever your tastes.... weird or popular, they have it. The shisha blends are great as well so for the hookah connoisseurs, its tasty treats. Seriously, its not all about the hookahs, although im always satisfied with them, its the whole damn place. I moved to San Francisco recently from Wilmington and I haven't found anything like it here. Thats freakin special. Good night and good luck.

Dirty & Nasty. This describes both the location and some of the patrons. If you are into the whole burning man, bohemian thing, this may be just what you are looking for, but the Hookahs taste like stale smoke, and the coals are full of chemicals. I find there are better choices in town, for a good clean relaxing Hookah smoke.

I guess MR X really get the place then. the gypsy is certainly a cool, eclectic spot. yeah its on the fringe, but theres no crackhouse that ive seen. Service mightve sucked because you order at the bar, not tableside

I dont even mind kicking down $1(Not 2),for another coal when I only pay $5 or $8 for a hookah as opposed to $25, or a charge per hose like other places. To me, extra hose charges are ridiculous.
It's a chill vibe at the Gypsy, music art, lotsa beers and odd people!
and its not for everyone.
So if youre a little uptight, you might want to go somewhere else. if you want to smoke some hookah and have a beer or wine, it gets the job done.

This is the shittiest hookah lounge I've every been to. It's located in the middle of the worst part of Wilmington, right next to a crackhouse. Service sucks, and I know from experience you have to watch closely where you park your car - the local towing company patrols every 15 minutes.

I have been here a few times. ehh its so-so. they have differant drink specials everyday of the week

hookah's are up and ready on the counter for you to choose from and how many hoses you want.

prices range from $5-25 depending on how extreme you want it.

$5-regular shisha about 6 flavors
$8-premium shisha about 15-20 flavors
so on and so on

their coal Im guessing is a kind of 3kings as they had the smell of a kings when they would light, the cackle of a kings, and the shape of a kings

as for the experiance itself I wasnt too impressed, most of the staff was never inside, and would be out for a long period. Most of the customers that were there would order a hookah take a few puffs and then go outside for 10-15min then come back in take a few more puffs on their hookah and then leave.

I was surprised to find one night. when I was enjoying my hookah that when the coal was out, the server did not come by and did not offer me another piece of coal, but instead when I went to the counter and there happend to be someone behind it. That the first piece of coal is free, but any peice after that are $2 FOR 1 yes 1 piece of coal.

Now I have been to many Hookah lounges/ bars/ cafes etc. from the West Coast to the East Coast and I have never had to pay for a piece of coal...Unless I bought a roll of Coal from the estableshment to substute the house coal.
