I came in Sunday night, and have to say that I really enjoyed myself. The guy in the "TRU.DAT" t-shirt who served me was so nice, and made me feel really at home. He also made the best hookah I have smoked in years. Thank you, and I will be back again next Sunday. :-)

horrible hookah; it was completely bland and we even ordered the so-called "premium" shisha. they served it to us with warm water, cheap hoses, and a very weak hookah... compare it to Prince's in Tenleytown and Queen's Cafe is a joke. service was rude and did not ask us once if we needed new coals (unlike Prince's, which is every 30 min or so). also, the mouthpiece they gave us was already BROKEN off.
we have been to a variety of hookah bars and this one may have been the worst one we have ever been to. it is completely despicable that we paid them for this type of service... i am amazed that a horrible hookah bar like Queen's stays in business.

FUCK THIS PLACE! I came here with my gf and all the owner did was sit close to her. He bugged us nonstop and talked to us about how he wasn't doing well and how he was making no money from the place and could we order more. I don't care. I came here for a good time and it was ruined by his intrusion. The hookah wasn't even good. Next time, I am going to Soussi or some other place. Again, FUCK THIS PLACE. IT SUCKS.

I just got back to New York and I have to say that this hookah was way chill. Amen was tremendously cool. He kept the place open late for us and we smoked, listened and watched Youtube videos on the big screens, and rocked out until like five in the morning. Amen, our humble servant, we thank you.

Alright, after reading all about Queen's on this board (the busiest board in DC it seems), I decided to stop there and see what was up. My impressions are:
It is small and it is dirty
The service is lacking (no one came to help me for about 10 minutes after I walked in).
The hookah is decent (not great, not bad).
The entertainment is a bit loud.
Will be leaving soon. A so-so trip.

This place is dirty and small, the service is so so, the hookah is dirty, and the TVs are too loud. I would not recommend this place.

Queen's is a little bit underground & small, but it's not dirty anymore. It's very nice, really affordable, hookah is good quality, service is friendly. I'll be back!

This place is dirty! If you go, watch out for rats. I had one run across my foot when i was sitting on the couches, and saw another by the door (behind the ATM). Their shisha pipes are never clean, and because of this you never really taste what you order. Cherry tastes like apple, which tastes like grape, which tastes like orange, which tastes like etc etc etc. My suggestion is go somewhere else/ You may pay a little more, but you will actually get what you order and you won't have to put up with the creepy owner hitting on every pretty girl that walks through the door. All in all, I give a 2 of 5 rating. The only saving grace was the white guy they had, but stupidly got rid of. He actually was pretty cool and really tried to make my stay worth it. Again, go to other hookah for clean, tasty shisha. Go to this for, well, nothing.

This sounds like a chill hookah bar I went to while in Egypt a couple of wks. ago. After taking a cruise, there was a cool hookah bar in Luxor & then in this village I visited for 4 days with my girlfriend. We also went to Cairo & Aswan & had big fun visiting the local hookah bars there. Thanks for the good info Brooke. My girl & I will definitely check it out.

Ralph,
Here is more info about the Health Code violation you referred to. It appears that Queen's Cafe has since reopened.

Um...maybe this place isn't so great. See #1 on DC Restaurants with Health Code Violations on Gridskipper.com (this site wonr't let me link):
"Closed Oct. 12 for operating without a certified food manager on duty and gross unsanitary conditions, including vermin."
Has anyone seen vermin here? The place sounds great ased on the reviews here.

I have been to a hookah before in college park. But one time when I went to one in Philadelphia they said we had to be 21. Is that true for Queen's Cafe?

Queen's Cafe' is so much fun! The atmosphere makes you feel like you left the US and are overseas. The music videos are really good too. Once you've had a hookah with some Egyptian tea, you'll be hooked for good.
